May Strategic Planning Meeting Minutes

Members of the strategic planning committee met May 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Present were Emily CArroll, Amanda Lessley, Director Jacque Cowger, Sarah Zumbahlen, and Austin Win. Other members of the committee not present were Travis Farley.

Chairman Amanda Lessley called the meeting to order.

Items discussed:

-Reviewed Other Libraries’ Plans and questionnaires.

  • The group discussed several things we would like to include in the strategic plan including the history of the library and statistics of the growth of the library.

-Discussed format for Questionnaire

-Discussed Creating Focus Groups

  • Each person in the group was tasked with providing Amanda with 10 questions for the survey by May 22. Amanda will create a sample survey and provide the next meeting. Plans are to approve the survey at the next meeting so that it is ready for distribution. Discussed ways to distribute the survey which includes providing it at the summer reading shows and through local media.

– Discussed Timeline for Strategic Plan Process

  • Once the group can receive and tabulate surveys and hear feedback from focus groups, the group will create our mission and vision statement. Jacque will look at compiling data and statistics regarding the library and its increased use over the years. jacque will purchase some resources from the American Library Association at minimal expense for guidance on creating our plan.

The deadline for the completion of the strategic plan is January 1, 2027.

The next strategic planning meeting is June 4, 2026, at 4 p.m., at the library.
