January Minutes 2025

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met January 27, 2025 at 5:00 P.M.  Present were Travis Farley, Emily Carroll, Ilene Woods, Jeanette Hickox, Amanda Lessley, Peter Pasero & Jennifer Hinterscher and Director Jacque Cowger.

President Farley called the regular meeting to order.

Minutes of the December meeting were reviewed and will stand as presented.

The December financial report was reviewed.  Bills were presented.  Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills seconded by Trustee Lessley, motion passed.

Director’s Report

Circulation for December was 2,356.  Money collected from fines, faxes, copier, book sales, cards, and miscellaneous was $507.25.  Five new cards were issued.  The patron door count for the month of December was 1,090.

Director Cowger has submitted the Per Capita Grant.  The library closed for inclement weather on January 6 and January 7, 2025.  The library closed early on January 10 and was closed January 11, 2025 again for inclement weather.

Pals recently switched out the  outside lighting of the library to LEDs.

Old Business

Jennifer Hinterscher provided an update on the Jasper County Museum.

The library purchased a CD from Peoples State Bank.

New Business

Discussed the Newton Power Station Assessment plan.

The discussion for the providing a printer/copier in the patron area was tabled.

Due to the President’s Day holiday, a motion was made by Trustee Woods to move the February 17, 2025 scheduled library board meeting to Monday February 24, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. and seconded by Trustee Carroll, motion passed.

The next board meeting is Monday February 24, 2025 at 5 p.m.
