Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met February 24, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. Present were Travis Farley, Emily Carroll, Ilene Woods, Amanda Lessley, Peter Pasero and Director Jacque Cowger
President Farley called the regular meeting to order.
Minutes of the January meeting were reviewed and will stand as presented.
The January financial report was reviewed. Bills were presented. Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Carroll, motion passed.
Director’s Report
Circulation for January was 3,046. Money collected from fines, faxes, copier, book sales, cards, and miscellaneous was $428.70. Ten new cards were issued. The patron door count for the month of January was 1,160.
Director Cowger informed the board that we have only one Chromebook left. The two hotspots we had are lost. At this time the library will not continue offering this service.
Old Business
Director Cowger gave the update on the museum move provided by Trustee Hinterscher. At this time they are looking for alternative locations. They will continue with the museum packing in March.
New Business
Discussed updating the printer/copier for the patron area. At this time Lazerware will replace printer/copier for a patron area as part of the current maintenance agreement.
There will be an author book signing at the library on Saturday March 8 from 10:30am to 1pm. Donna (Ensign) Woods will have copies of her book “Feathers in the Wind” available to sign and purchase.
President Farley made a motion to accept a quote from Judy McClure to provide window perforation for Director Cowger’s office, seconded by Trustee Lessley, Motion passed. This will be funded by proceeds from the annual Orell Farley Trust distribution.
The trustees discussed the library’s strategic plan. The plan is outdated and needs revision. We plan to form an advisory group and start updating the plan
The next board meeting is Monday March 17, 2025 at p.m.
