April Minutes 2023

 

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met April 17, 2023 at 5:00 P.M.  Present was Deborah Urfer, Donna Connor, Ilene Woods, Peter Pasero, Emily Carroll, Travis Farley, Jeanette Hickox and Director Jacque Holsapple.

President Farley called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the March meeting were reviewed and will stand as presented.

The financial report was reviewed.  Bills were presented.  Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Carroll, motion passed.

Director’s Report

Circulation for March was 3,385.  Money collected from fines, faxes, copier, book sales, cards and miscellaneous was $470.51.

Building insurance policy needs to be reviewed. The agent will re-evaluate the building and content coverage.

Old Business

President Farley made a motion that the board of library trustees, the library executive director Jacque Holsapple, and community member’s Amy Short and Sara Zumbahlen be appointed to the Decennial Committee, seconded by Trustee Woods, motion passed.  The first meeting will be May 15 immediately following the library board meeting.

A review of the library savings account and CD was discussed.  The amount of money deposited in the checking account will stay as is.  The savings account will be reviewed in May.

Director Holsapple attended Directors University.  She found it very informative and helpful.

New Business

FDIC coverage at the People’s Bank was reviewed.  FDIC covers $250,000.00.  beyond that the bank has pledged a security to insure the account 100%.

the tourism council will fund a songwriter workshop in May.

The Summer Reading Program will commence on June 6 through July 11.  Registration begins May 22 through June 6.  Story time for the little ones will be Thursdays at 10:30 at the library.  Painting with Tia will be June 14 for 12-16 year old’s and June 21 for 7-11 year old’s.  The sign up  begins May 23.

School kids will visit in May.

The next meeting is May 15.
