November Minutes 2023

 

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met November, 20, 2023 at 5:00 P.M.  Present was Pete Pasero, Emily Carroll, Amanda Lessley, Jennifer Hinterscher, Ilene Woods, Jeanette Hickox and Director Jacque Holsapple.

Vice-President Pasero called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the October meeting were reviewed and will stand as presented.

The financial report was reviewed.  Bills were presented.  Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Lessley, motion passed.

Director’s Report

Family Reading Night & Story Time – There were several that attended the Family Reading Night and story time.  The Paperpie book sale was successful and the library will receive a donation of $100.00 to spend on additional books.

The board reviewed the Materials Selection and Collection Development Policy.  Trustee Hinterscher made a motion to accept the changes made to the policy, seconded by Trustee Woods, motion passed.

New Business

President Farley and Trustee Hinterscher attended the Annual Joint Review Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 8.

There are several December programs to be held at the library.  There will be a story walk around the square.  Story Walk starts December 1-31, 2023 and will start at the library and end at Joes Italian Food & Pizza.  Story is “Snowmen at Christmas” by Caralyn Buehner.

There will be Christmas story time at the library on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Mrs. Claus will be at the library to visit with the children.

The library will be participating in Christmas on the square.  children can come in to the library to decorate their own Christmas Snowman from 2-4 p.m.

there will be another Stuffed animal Sleepover on Thursday December 28, 2023.  Pajama story hour will be at 6:00 p.m.  Children can pick up their stuffed animal the following day from 1:00-4:30.  This is for ages Pre-K thru 2nd grade.

The board reviewed the Circulation of Materials Policy.  No changes were made.  A motion was made by Trustee Lessley, seconded by Emily Carroll, motion passed.

Per the Per Capita Grant Requirement, the board reviewed and discussed Chapter 11, 12, & 13 (Youth/Young Adult Services, Technology, Marketing, Promotion, and Collaboration).

The next meeting is December 18, 2023.
