February Minutes 2023

 

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met February 21, 2023, at 5:00 P.M. Present were Ilene Woods, Deborah Urfer, Peter Pasero, Travis Farley, Emily Carroll, Jeanette Hickox and Director Jacque Holsapple.

President Farley called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the January meeting were reviewed along with the January Bills.  Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by President Farley, motion passed.

Director’s Report:

Books acquired in January were one-hundred thirty-nine. Circulation was two-thousand nine hundred nineteen.  Total money collected from fines, faxes copier, book sales and miscellaneous were $502.30.  three nonresident cards issued and seven resident cards.

Quilted patriotic blocks will be made into a quilt to be given away on Veterans Day. Patrons are donating the blocks.

A toilet is causing problems and may have to be replaced.

Jennifer Hinterscher is working in the museum as time allows.  She hopes to have a donation form finalized soon and a structured committee.

The Gardening and horticulture class on Tuesday is well attended.

Old Business:

New Computers have been installed and are quite a bit faster. Some new outlets needed to be installed.  Pals Electric did the installation work.

New Business:

An Application for Non-Homestead Property Tax Exemption will need to be submitted to the state government.  This is for the library storage room.

All Trustees that were present filled out the Statement of Economic Interest.

An application for Jasper County Chamber of Commerce Membership will be submitted as a Friend of the Chamber, with a donation of $100.00.

the library was closed for one day in January due to the weather.  Closings are at the discretion of the Director.

the next book sale will be April 27, 28, 29.

The next meeting will be March 20.
